Diener Family Reunion for Dad’s 90th Birthday

The Diener family got together for five days in Georgia. We celebrated our dad’s 90th birthday. In addition to my dad and me, also present were four sisters and a brother. That makes 6 of the 8 children. Also present were four brothers-in-law and a nephew and niece. We had a great time visiting with eachother and going on a couple outings to the Appalachian Trail. We shared meals that were delicious, each meal prepared by a different sibling.

Overall, a good time was had by all.

One of the highlights of the family reunion was a game that filled two evenings. The game was invented by my sister. I call it Diener trivia. Each of the siblings contributed trivia questions related to us growing up or about familiy memories in general. It was so much fun to remember and hear more about so many amazing things that we did in our lives.

It was also very educational to hear about many parts of my past that I had forgotten or didn’t know. For example, I thought I had invented a game of going around the house climbing and jumping on things without ever touching the floor. I learned that my older siblings invented it. Maybe, I just took it farther. Also, when we were on vacation in a condo with a loft, every year, we took all of the cushions from sofas or whatever from the whole condo, spread them out on the floor and jumped from the loft.

In a sense, the game is just like a documentary chronicling our family. It would have been nice to have recorded a video of it. Maybe, we’ll do somehting like that next time.
